Over 1,000 homes to rise at Edinburgh Gateway

A 15.5-acre plot at Edinburgh Gateway has been acquired by joint venture partners Moda Living and Osborne + Co, to deliver over 1,000 homes next to the tram and rail interchange.

The Saica factory, a paper and cardboard plant relocating to Livingston, is to be transformed into a predominantly residential district of mixed tenure apartments and townhouses alongside workspaces and community facilities with an enhanced public realm.

Moda Living director Oscar Brooks said: “As with all Moda neighbourhoods, this site will be designed, built, and operated around ESG (environment, social and governance), targeting net-zero operations, outstanding resident service and experience, health and wellbeing and using the latest innovation and digital infrastructure to deliver an unparalleled customer experience.”

An architect hasn't been named for the project but pre-application consultations will get underway in a matter of months.

Moda is currently on-site with a 730 home scheme at Lancefield Quay following delivery of its first build to rent scheme in Edinburgh, The McEwan.
