Brownfield Braehead build to complete Renfrew residential corridor

Bellway Homes has opened a consultation into the delivery of around 120 houses and flats at Ferry Village, Braehead.

Brownfield land bounded by Laymoor Avenue and King's Inch Road has been chosen for the build, designed by George Buchanan Architects to complete a residential corridor extending west into Renfrew.

In a statement, the applicant wrote: "Higher density apartments shall line the site boundary to the east, clearly delineating the site from the adjacent retail quarter.

"The layout seeks to introduce new routes through the site, benefitting residents of the neighbouring residential developments, enhancing their connections to local shops and facilities."

An interactive consultation is scheduled for 30 March between 15:00 and 19:00 with all feedback to be received no later than 8 April. A detailed planning application is expected in June.

A shame they ignore the street pattern of the neighbouring scheme and resort to the same old volume house builder anti-placemaking formula.

It would be a decent place to live, but on busy day's the traffic on King's Inch Road is a nightmare, the road layout is not well explained and it can be difficult to get into the right lane.

Urban regeneration at its most delightful. I'd go for the flats next to the roundabout for that quintessential village green vibe.

Or one with a view of the transformer station for that authentically industrial feel. Salubrious.

What infrastructure is planned on Kings Inch Road roundabout because it is very busy as it is without adding more houses in the area. The amount of houses/flats they are throwing up in the area does not match the amount of schools and other amenities in the local area.
