Plans lodged for 81 Carluke homes bounding protected woodland
February 24 2022
Proposals for 81 homes have been filed for a former rubbish dump in Carluke, consisting of a mix of terraced houses and flats accessible off Goremire Road.
Mast Architects propose to work with established landscape features and retain a green buffer with the Clyde Valley Woodlands Special Conservation Area.
New homes will employ feature gables at junctions and amenity spaces with zinc box dormers also employed at strategic locations to aid wayfinding.
Outlining their approach to the built form Mast wrote: "A mix of buff-coloured facing brick, broken up by areas of light-coloured render creates a strong aesthetic.
"Further to the built form, the juxtaposition of brick and render also is incorporated in a way which benefits wayfinding and leads pedestrians and the like through the site. For example, Larger areas of render are located to blocks at key entry points to the site at the various paths and road points."
A new loop road will open up the site for development with two small private drives offering access to more remote properties.
