Split level homes push Bridge of Allan west

AllanWater Homes with Yeoman McAllister Architects have lodged plans for 46 homes in Bridge of Allan, 12 of which are to be affordable.

The grassland site at Blairforkie Drive sits to the north of the railway station and will be opened up for development by routing a new spine road, providing direct footpath connections to the Allan Water.

Employing natural materials such as slate, stone and zinc the properties will adopt rendered walls with pitched roofs oriented to provide a positive frontage to the street.

Setting out their design response the architects said: "The proposed houses and flats are mostly split level to deal with the challenging topography and fit comfortably within the natural context of the site. As the houses sit lower than the existing properties along Blairforkie Drive the impact on existing views is also minimised. The high-quality contemporary design reflects the important location and is appropriate for a new neighbourhood on the western edge of Bridge of Allan."

Landscape design is to be undertaken by VLM.

For 'grassland' read 'designated green belt'.

Have to agree.
That site is designated as greenbelt in the LDP.
