Cramond garden gives ground to a detached home

Proposals to erect a substantial detached house on a garden at Barnton Avenue West in the Cramond district of Edinburgh have been lodged.

Scott Francis Allan architectural design proposes a 246sq/m home clad in natural stone and copper by developing a 731sq/m slice of the current grounds.

Screened by a belt of trees and set back from the main road the home includes a dedicated TV room, home gym and garage for eight vehicles.

A first-floor terrace and enclosed garden and patio are also provided for the secluded four-bedroom property.

The development is now under the consideration of the City of Edinburgh Council planners.

A garage for eight vehicles? Hmmm, I know its a constrained site but I'm sure my son designed something similar on Minecraft recently. Also, does it have a 3rd story or or not, or is that where the extra cars go!

@#1

The garage is 6m x 7m so space for two cars only.

The drawings and some of the renders only have two storeys, but a couple of the renders have a third storey because it was a bit of a pain to change it again.

@#2 Thanks.

Two storey/three storey, its only the planning drawings I suppose..

#3 I particularly love that the massive discrepancy is on the same sheet!

I also enjoy the little 1200 projection (don't scale this on elevation!) on to the neighbours driveway because "the building got a bit too long in the plan and it was a bit of a pain to move it"?

I love the location plan being 1:12500 instead of 1:1250. I also love that the scale bars are the wrong scale. (How did that get the CEC Technician Monkeys not spot those?)
If I was building a million pound villa I'd also not expect to have to trail my Waitrose shopping bags through the main lounge.
I guess these are the kind of errors and issues you get if you don't employ an architect.

I'm intrigued to know what happens in the Livining Room.

Believe it or not, he has also got the East and West elevations incorrectly labelled.
