Opinions sought for draft Kirkintilloch Gateway masterplan
November 23 2021
East Dunbartonshire Council has opened a consultation on a draft masterplan for a new business district between Kirkintilloch and Lenzie.
The Kirkintilloch Business Gateway is earmarked for vacant land between Initiative and Woodielee Road, incorporating a range of land uses, open space and active travel routes with an emphasis on employment.
Authored by 7N Architects, Currie & Brown, Nick Wright Planning and Cundall the draft masterplan proposes retention of mature trees and woodland wherever possible while integrating the area into a wider pedestrian and cycle network.
Explaining their approach the design team wrote: "The intention for the masterplan is to improve access to services and facilities locally within the immediate neighbourhood, not to compete with Kirkintilloch and Lenzie town centres as the community and commercial hubs for the wider urban area.
"Once the masterplan has been approved, the council intends that it will be used as a material consideration to guide decision-making on planning applications."
An online presentation will take place on 29 November from 19:00.

I wonder how much the masterplan cost and how many clichés it contains?
