November 4 2021
Developer Orchard Brae is to deliver a £2m community football hub at its EuroPark development in North Lanarkshire in an updated Barton Willmore masterplan for land bounded by Carnbroe, Calderbank and Chapelhall.
The cash will enable a new clubhouse to be built as a base for Gartcairn Football Academy including changing facilities and several UEFA standard pitches as part of a broader lifestyle pitch for the Central Belt estate.
Steven Tucker, master planner and spokesperson for Orchard Brae, commented: “We are excited to include this new state-of-the-art football complex within our plans.
“We aspire to create a sustainable place to live, work and play with a strong emphasis on wellbeing, community and carbon net-zero to meet the needs of 21st-century living. We are confident that with the addition of the neighbourhood centre, creating the community football facility, a home working hub, health facilities, a care home, petrol filling station, hotel and restaurant, fast food, an energy centre, and a pub/restaurant, that the mix is just right.”
Upon completion, EuroPark will house 2,350 homes around the North Calder Water and canal.
