Rearguard mews action to revitalise New Town offices

Zone Architects are heading proposals to overhaul a New Town townhouse, latterly in use as office accommodation, to provide upgraded accommodation.

Work to Manor Place will see the A-listed Georgian property sensitively remodelled, retaining original features such as an oval cupola, floral cornices and ornate plasterwork.

A double-storey 1960s mews building to the rear, which occupies the entire garden, will be remodelled with Fyfestone artificial cladding replaced by ashlar stone to establish a new frontage.

Improvements will also open up a secondary entrance from William Street Lane, as the architects explain: "Currently the lane elevation is dominated by a roller garage door, often covered with graffiti and it is proposed to remove the door and install glazed doors, stone paving and planters."

The current flat roof will be retained with the addition of conservation grade steel roof lights.
