Sod-cutting marks rise of Newmains & St Brigid's community hub

BAM Construction has marked a move on-site to deliver the £20m Newmains and St Brigid’s Community Hub and Family Learning Centre in North Lanarkshire with a sod-cutting ceremony.

The first of three community hubs to be delivered on behalf of North Lanarkshire Council and Hub South West the shared campus will serve denominational and non-denominational 484 primary pupils with an on-site early years education centre for 103 children.

Councillor Frank McNally said: “Our focus on health and wellbeing and the outdoor facilities will provide enhanced leisure and recreational facilities for all members of the community to enjoy. Children and young people, staff, parents and the local community have all played a considerable role in developing the design for the new community hub, which takes into account both the requirements of the local community and the natural heritage and architecture of the area."

The new campus has been designed by BDP and will be delivered over an 18-month construction period.
