Westpoint Homes surmount planning problems to deliver North Kelvinside homes

Westpoint Homes have launched Kibble Heights, a development of 19 apartments in North Kelvinside, within Glasgow's West End following a three-year planning battle.

Construction is already underway on a mix of apartments at the junction of Wilton Street and Fergus Drive after the developer successfully appealed against planning refusal to demolish a 1950's building on the site, enabling it to proceed with the Holmes Miller designed apartment block.

The Scottish Government's planning appeals division overturned the council's initial decision to refuse permission to demolish, arguing that the previous building was 'incongruous' in its setting and carried an 'unprepossessing and utilitarian appearance'.

Refusal for the new build apartments was also overturned at local review.

Three top floor penthouses are included in the design, including one 1,1337sq/ft apartment with a triple aspect rooftop terrace stretching to 62sq/m.

The building will comply with Silver Active building regulations and Gold for carbon emissions

Poor refusal from GCC planners. Good decision and a way above average design.
