HMRC take possession of Atlantic Square UK Government Hub
June 9 2021
HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) have taken possession of the second UK Government Hub to be built in Scotland at 1 Atlantic Square, Glasgow.
Delivered by BAM Properties and TCP Developments with LGIM Real Assets and Cooper Cromar Architects the 187,205 sq ft premises will house up to 2,500 staff when fully operational early next year.
Following on from the delivery of New Waverley in Edinburgh the hub has been awarded a BREEAM “Excellent” rating and has an EPC rating of “A”. Colin Casse, locations programme director for HMRC said: “HMRC has a long-standing presence in Glasgow and the surrounding area.
The UK Government Hub will be our new home in the West of Scotland. Atlantic Square is a stunning building that will provide a modern, flexible working environment that can easily adapt and cater for any future changes to our working practices and ways of working. We are looking forward to the first colleagues moving into the building next spring.”
The ten-storey glass block retains the A-listed facade of a former warehouse on James Watt Street, originally built by retailer William Whitley in the 19th century.
Occupiers are being sought for 96,650 sq ft of speculative floorspace in a secondary build next door
