Renfrewshire Council has invited residents to share their views on a decade long £100m council house building programme.
The sum has been earmarked for the provision of energy-efficient and affordable housing across the local authority area and will include a variety of new build and refurbishment of existing properties and outdoor areas such as closes, backcourts and bin stores.
Opening the programme will be eight priority regeneration areas at Auchentorlie Quadrant, Howard Street, Waverley Road, Thrushcraigs, Springbank Road and Broomlands in Paisley; as well as Moorpark in Renfrew and Howwood Road in Johnstone (pictured).
Councillor Marie McGurk, convener of the authorities communities, housing and planning board, commented: “We would stress that at this stage, all we are putting forward are proposals – if approved, council staff will be in touch with all residents and owners to get their views on the plans and to make sure all voices are heard before any final decisions are made."
Targeted demolitions could affect properties in four of these areas, to be replaced by 300 new build homes.
