Work begins on Cuningar Loop lookout tower & bothy

Clyde Gateway will shortly commence work on a complementary lookout tower and bothy at Cuningar Loop Woodland Park as part of a £2.3m package of work to improve facilities.

Named 'The Tur' the new lookout tower will provide park-goers with elevated views over 37 acres of parkland and the River Clyde while a nearby bothy will introduce a multi-functional space for community and business use.

Designed by jmarchitects and built by Linear Design & Construct the recreational duo will be built from timber and utilise off-site manufacturing to ensure speedy delivery by the end of the year.

Ian Manson, chief executive of Clyde Gateway, commented: “The Cuningar Loop is a landmark destination and woodland park in the heart of the city. These new facilities will further enhance this fantastic amenity and give residents even more outdoor health, wellbeing and natural play benefits.”

500,000 visitors have travelled to the urban park since it opened in 2016, drawn to a range of attractions including an adventure play area, bike pump track, bouldering zone and boardwalk.
