Water Row masterplan kicks into gear
November 6 2020
Govan Housing Association is to take possession of land at Water Row, Govan, by the end of the year to proceed with 92 affordable homes and 9,000sq/ft of commercial space.
An off-market deal brokered with Glasgow City Council valued the land at £306k and clears the way for delivery of a Collective Architecture masterplan for the area to build on future connections to Partick via a proposed footbridge.
Councillor Kenny McLean said: “The regeneration of Water Row will not only bring new affordable homes, jobs and services to Govan, but add to the developments taking place throughout the area, from the forthcoming Govan – Partick Bridge to Govan Old and the Glasgow Riverside Innovation District. All of these projects will make Govan a more attractive place in which to live, work and invest.”
Identified as a priority site for regeneration by the council the development will occupy land to the east of Water Row in a first phase of development, with a second phase due to follow at a later date to the west.
It forms one of 23 locations around the city where surplus land will be transferred to housing associations to meet accommodation need.
