The Glasgow Hilton is to receive a major refurbishment with all 319 guest bedrooms benefitting from new decor as well as three additional bedrooms carved out of a redundant executive lounge on the 18th floor.

Interior designers Bell & Swift will deliver these interventions having already created three model rooms to test the feasibility of their standard, deluxe and executive suite designs.

Each room will feature bespoke 'Glasgow Style' furniture and furnishings inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and artist sisters Margaret MacDonald Mackintosh and Frances MacDonald MacNair.

Dawn Campbell, co-founder and managing director of Bell & Swift said: “We used our experience in large scale refurbishments combined with our local knowledge of the city to take the client on a journey through Glasgow’s design heritage. Through our desire to bring this to life and reinvent the hotel we created a unique design, which paid homage to the culture and heritage of the city and elevate the aesthetics of the hotel and its position within the market place.”

The phased project will see the new ballroom and bar completed in December with remaining elements following throughout 2021.

Discussions are ongoing concerning planned upgrades to the leisure club.
