Wishaw town centre renewal brings 30 homes
October 1 2020
The Link Group has delivered 30 homes at the former Wishaw Market on East Academy Street.
The brownfield social housing project includes a mix of flats and houses designed by Mast Architects, employing a mix of facing brick, zinc cladding and smooth render.
Tenants have now moved into their new properties, bringing life to an area which has remained derelict since the 1980s.
Delivered by the JR Group the project replace a former cattle market in the town centre and have now switched their attention to the High Street where a further 12 apartments will be delivered.

That zinc cladding is probably the single worst feature I have seen on a housing scheme, of any budget. Did the "designers" think, oh, we have a few grand left, why not add half a wall and roof in zinc?
The "designers" should have been bold - chose a simple palette of materials and stick with it. Enough with the poxy layering.
All the best to them though, it’s not my problem.
