The JR Group has announced plans to build 12 apartments on Wishaw High Street, hot on the heels of delivering 30 affordable homes on the site of the derelict Wishaw Market at East Academy Street.

A determination from North Lanarkshire Council is expected over the coming weeks for the town centre build, which could get underway in the fourth quarter if approved.

Gary McGregor, managing director of The JR Group, commented: “Wishaw is a great place to live and bring up a family, with a real sense of community.

“I used to go to Wishaw Market as a kid, so it was sad to see its demise. Its redevelopment has brought with it much needed high-quality new build homes that people can be proud of."

The building services provider has resumed discussions with St Thomas Primary School to assist with the development of a new play park.
