Mount Florida public realm improvements go to public consultation
July 29 2020
Mount Florida Community Council has opened a community consultation to improve the Letherby Triangle, surplus land located at the junction of Cathcart Road and Carmunnock Road beside Mount Florida Primary.
Following the receipt of funding from Sustrans, the council is now developing proposals with ERZ to form a new civic space suitable for public gatherings and events while encouraging greater pedestrian and cycle activity by closing one side of the junction to traffic.
Initial thoughts include the introduction of new planting, seating and lighting, enhanced by relocating the current taxi rank, bus stop and parking spaces.
These environmental improvements form part of a range of concepts being put forward utilising a range of materials and styles to establish the most popular approach.
Specific ideas include the introduction of terrazzo artwork inspired by tenement staircases and a border bench defining the Cathcart Road street edge.
Opinions are sought on the material finishes and configuration of street furniture, planting and access

To think the community council want to take ownership of the nearby bowling club... it’ll be a jungle if they have their way attracting local riff-raff which is the principle reason driving their objections in the first place! How will those local residents cope!
