Regional health hub takes shape in Inverness
June 24 2020
Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the University of the Highlands and Islands have lodged plans for a 2,700sq/m life sciences innovation centre at Inverness Campus.
Designed by Austin-Smith:Lord the facility will dovetail with a complementary development taken forward by NHS Highland to create a hub for health research in the region.
Close collaboration will see the three organisations pool resources to maximise research and commercial opportunities in fields such as medical nanotechnology and digital health.
Ruaraidh MacNeil, HIE’s Inverness Campus project director, commented: “We are very pleased to see this project reach the planning stage. Our intention is to create a facility dedicated to the commercialisation of health and life sciences research, and one that supports the continued growth of the University of the Highlands and Islands."
The centre will include a mix of offices, laboratories and collaboration space.
