Aberdeen coasts ahead with colourful Cove masterplan
June 10 2020
Stewart Milne Homes with Thain Harrington Edward (THE) have presented plans to build 177 homes on land to the east of Falkland Avenue, Cove, three miles from Aberdeen city centre.
Part of a broader greenfield development on the outskirts of the fishing village the scheme would provide a mix of general needs and wheelchair accessible houses and flats arranged around a simple rectilinear street pattern.
Outlining a split approach to the site layout THE wrote: "There are two character areas separated by the new distribution road, the area to the west, incorporating the houses, is laid out in a traditional seaward pattern and incorporates coastal characteristics whereas the area to the east, incorporating apartments, is more contemporary with a design approach reflecting a more national coastal design with a modern interpretation on features respecting the past."
Finished largely in white dry-dash render under grey roof tiles points of interest have been created through 'coastal style' painted concrete cills and coloured render gables with orange pantiles included on feature plots.
The development is classed as wholly affordable with discussions already underway with local housing providers.

Excited to see what THE manage to achieve with the area. They look an exciting prospect.
