'Glasgow Corner' Passivhaus properties secure approval

Planners have awarded conditional consent to a proposal by Robert Potter & Partners to construct 36 flats at Springfield Cross in Glasgow's east end.
Led by West of Scotland Housing Association the scheme would rejuvenate a prominent parcel of brownfield land at the junction of Springfield and London Road's, extending regeneration initiatives at the nearby Athlete's Village such as a new primary school.
Finished in facing brick around a stone effect frame the 'Glasgow Corner' style build aims to establish a local landmark in the manner of more flamboyant and robust tenement designs at key junctions.
Confirming approval the council's development and regeneration services department wrote: "The proposal was considered to be in accordance with the Development Plan and there were no material considerations which outweighed the proposal's accordance with the Development Plan."
Conceived as a 'building in the round' the design treats front and rear elevations equally with all properties meeting Passivhaus standards.
Access will be provided via a new road off Williamson Street
Broader than standard doors will permit assisted movement internally

That is one truly ugly building.

However the approach heading east along London Road is awful. Why couldn't the larger windows have been used here too? A ppor effort on what could have become a landmark building for the area.
