Architecture Fringe step into degree show vacuum with Graduate Showcase
May 22 2020
Architecture Fringe has responded to ongoing disruption in the academic world wrought by Covid-19 with the launch of Graduate Showcase, an opportunity for new graduates to communicate their work while traditional degree shows remain cancelled.
Designed as a springboard for graduates embarking on their careers at one of the most difficult times for the industry in memory the initiative will provide a window to prospective employers to all schools of architecture and landscape architecture.
Appraising Urban Realm of the need for intervention Fringe organiser Chris Dobson said: "With degree shows cancelled, across the board, we were keen to try and provide what support we can to new graduates, particularly given the incredibly difficult prospects that they will be facing as they emerge from their university studies.
"To this end we are constructing a Graduate Showcase – a web-based degree show that will capture the work from all of Scotland’s schools of architecture and landscape architecture. We have had positive engagement from all of the institutions, to this end and believe that it may be the first national showcase of its kind in the world."
A formal launch of the programme will follow in June with guidance on how people may participate expected shortly.
