Fresh planning application signals Edinburgh Park residential shift
A new residential-led masterplan for Edinburgh Park is being taken forward by developer Parabola with the submission of detailed plans for the southern phase of the out of town district.

Comprising a mix of 1,700 private rental, affordable and serviced apartments in the form of flatted villa blocks around shared podium gardens, maisonettes and flats alongside some 350,000sq/ft of commercial and leisure facilities centred upon Edinburgh Park train station.

Conceived as a complementary mixed-use district to stand alongside under construction office elements the latest addition has been conceived by Dixon Jones Architects to form a self-contained community plugged into the wider city by train, tram and green links.

Notifying planners of the pending submission for 33 acres of land to the south of Edinburgh Park the developer wrote: “The site is largely undeveloped and consists of made up ground, likely associated with the building of the A720 City of Edinburgh by-pass. The Gogar Burn enters a large culvert on the western boundary of the site and is culverted across the remainder of the site.

“The site is bound by the by-pass and the railway line and lies in close proximity to the airport - a noise assessment will be required. In addition to this, a poultry farm lies to the west of the site so an odour and air quality assessment will be required.”

Construction work has currently paused at Edinburgh Park though it is hoped to resume work to allow completion of the 85,000sq/ft One New Park Square by late 2021.

Certainly more sustainable and acceptable than the David Murray suburban-sprawl mince that was granted planning across the other side of the bypass.
The architecture is fairly vacuous, dated and irrelevant to its location…Amsterdam 2002..but the density and connectivity are quite appealing.
Just sayin’..

Amsterdam 2002 would be a step up
