Inverness Campus life sciences facility fast-tracked
April 30 2020
Austin-Smith:Lord Architects have been selected to deliver the latest laboratory space at Inverness Campus, a life sciences office park on the outskirts of the Highland capital.
Led by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and the University of the Highlands & Islands the shared project will deliver a 2,700sq/m mixed laboratory and office space to incubate start-up businesses.
Final designs will be submitted by May in anticipation of a start on site being made by November for completion in winter 2021.
In procurement documents the economic development agency wrote: "HIE anticipates that this will be a ‘fast track’ project in that deliverable dates are fixed."
A coronavirus testing centre is in operation at the campus with collaborative efforts underway between business and academia to improve testing capacity and support the NHS through sharing laboratories, expertise and equipment.
The design team services fee has been put at £220k and follows on from delivery of the Centre for Health Sciences by Oberlanders.
