Views sought on Lochgilphead active travel link

Argyle and Bute Council have launched a public consultation on plans to create a new active travel route in Lochgilphead.
The Corran Path would connect the Front Green to the Crinan Canal, offering a pedestrian, cycle and scooter link to meet community goals of delivering enhanced public realm and an events space.
Delivery of landscape design plans by ERZ is expected to get underway this month to form a tree-lined avenue along the waterfront, with a signage totem denoting the town centre together with a public shelter and information boards.
In a statement, the authority wrote: “It has been a long-term aspiration of the residents of Lochgilphead to see the Front Green used more by people for community events and general recreation and enjoyment. This project aims to work with the community to help fulfil the potential of this wonderful public space within the heart of Lochgilphead.”
This plan dovetails with an invitation for conservation architects to undertake renovations valued at £1.6m of historic buildings on Argyll Street, part of the Lochgilphead Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme.
The Corran Path consultation has been moved to an online-only format in response to government advice concerning Covid-19 and will take place all this week through to 5 April.
