Residential trio to take the place of vacant Aberdeen office block

Telereal Trillium and Comprehensive Design Architects have alighted on Aberdeen’s Greyfriars House with a view to redeveloping the city centre site to provide 140 apartments.

Planning in principle is being sought to demolish the vacant seventies-era C-plan office building at 54 Gallowgate to allow the formation of three detached blocks of up to seven storeys, each separated by landscaped amenity areas.

Each building would be aligned on a north/south axis with stepped profile accommodating high level roof terraces with views to Marischal College.

Documenting their design rationale CDA wrote: “The shaping and stepping of the proposal attempts to complement the local features, in particular acting as a mediator between the scale of the Porthill Court development to the north and the Littlejohn Street Properties to the south.”

The plan follows moves to establish a new civic quarter centred on Marischal Square.
