Glasgow Green shapes up with 49 new apartments

Cruden Building has completed work on 49 homes for Thenue Housing Association in a £9.3m project to revitalise the Glasgow Green area.

Incorporating the B-listed former Monteith Hotel the project has been designed by Anderson Bell + Christie to provide an on-site allotment, interior courtyard and a newly formed through route from London Road to Monteith Row.

Finished with buff brick, standing seam zinc and timber windows the properties will include frameless sunspaces and follows a decision to move on-site with an additional 77 affordable homes at Abercromby Street.

The works are complemented by an ongoing streetscape enhancement project to upgrade the public realm around the Barras area with new granite setts.

The Monteith Hotel dates from 1891 and has been converted to provide six energy-efficient apartments.

Oh, who wouldn't kill to live in one of these lower ground level, busy street facing condos?

That elevation on London Road is so grim.
