MacTaggart & Mickel are to move on-site with a development of 48 flats within a disused Anniesland office block over three years after first obtaining planning consent, owing to difficulties in carving out the desired living spaces.

An amendment to the previously consented scheme called for the installation of external stair cores to the eastern elevation owing to difficulties in achieving viable floorplans with internalised access.

Finished in matching buff brick and gold coloured aluminium cladding the stair cores have been integrated into the body of the existing office block to designs by Holmes Miller Architects.

This approach will see the existing structure retained and reused with the addition of a recessed rooftop ‘penthouse’ level to provide additional accommodation.

A mix of hard and soft landscaping undertaken by Oobe will help integrate the homes with Herschell Street and the adjacent train station.
