Kinross retirement living project rubberstamped
January 16 2020
A former hotel in Kinross is to be demolished to allow a retirement living scheme to be built following approval from Perth & Kinross Council.
Windlestrae Hotel has been taken on by Juniper Residential to build a mix of 41 houses and flats, each embodying a vernacular design by Young & Gault Architects of slate effect pitched roofs, buff brick and white render.
A spokesperson for Juniper Residential said: “It is now well documented there is an increasingly ageing population, but there is a distinct shortage of purpose-built homes to meet the specific needs of this demographic.
“Our development will enable older people to maintain independence in the local community, whilst retaining home ownership in a safe and secure environment. The houses and flats are thoughtfully designed and specified exclusively for the location and will include a number of features, such as a community lounge and a guest suite for visiting family and friends.”
The town centre site will provide access to a range of local amenities for residents.
