Garnock Hub approval to deliver health & wellbeing goals
January 14 2020
North Ayrshire Council has granted planning consent to the creation of a community hub at Kilbirnie Loch, Garnock, which will double as a focal point for the Lochshore masterplan.
Delivered by Hub South West and Collective Architecture the new hub will include a visitor centre and changing facilities for a local rugby club on the site of the former Glengarnock Iron Works.
Externally the new hub embodies the pitched roofs and metal cladding of its industrial predecessor, settling into landscaped grounds of asphalt and gravel paths overseen by Hirst landscape architects which connect to a car park.
Internally a low-level concrete plinth accommodates changing rooms with a café, community space and offices provided on the main level contained in two separate volumes linked by an entrance space.
These spaces will be oriented to maximise views across the loch and playing fields.

It could do with some security too, being a tad isolated.
Come on Collective, let's have a worm's eye view as well.
