GHA ahead of the curve with Pollok proposal

Glasgow Housing Association and Anderson Bell + Christie Architects have teamed up to deliver 26 homes on the site of a former school off Damshot Crescent, overlooking the White Cart River in the city’s south side.

The proposals call for the creation of twin ‘cottage’ flats backing onto a shared amenity and parking court before a further row of houses.

Properties will be finished in a mix of clay and concrete brick with fibre cement clay tiles, with roof cladding extending onto the facades of homes below to create a ‘mansard’ level.

In their accompanying design statement, the architects observed: “The existing context has a variety of roof cladding materials. From this existing context, we have looked to compliment with proposed materials of similar hues and textures.

“The proposed roof material colour is a reflection of the alternating colours within the existing masterplan and a reference to the adjacent church.”

The proposals supplant a similar 2018 application, subsequently withdrawn.
