New plans emerge for disused Torry Primary School
November 27 2019
The former Victoria Road Primary School in Torry is the subject of a redevelopment bid by Grampian Housing Association and Torry Development Trust to deliver 50 affordable homes alongside a nursery and community space.
A planning application by David Murray Associates sets out how two historic granite school buildings and their outbuildings will be repurposed for residential use.
Under the plans an original open courtyard within the oldest school building dating from 1878 will be reinstated by removing a gymnasium roof light, enabling each inserted home to have its own front door.
A later 1905 extension will be converted to residential use with the latter benefiting from the removal of a non-original mansard roof with a reinstated dual-pitch design allowing the formation of an additional floor of accommodation.
A new build element will be inserted between the two school buildings, joined by further new homes on the site of more utilitarian workshops together with the reinstatement of original teacher housing.
The stand-alone new build will include a ground floor nursery with three floors of flats above served by a common stair.

Potential to be a nice wee scheme though... perhaps consideration of more softer lanscaping in teh cetnral area would be welcome.
