Build to rent rush reaches Aberdeen’s Rubislaw Quarry
November 21 2019
Canadian real estate investment firm Carterra has come forward with plan B proposals for a major residential development at Aberdeen’s Rubislaw Quarry following the rejection of its initial plans.
The new iteration carries forward the original design but reduces the volume of build to rent flats from 300 to 250 with a gym, bistro and promenade remaining as before.
This would be achieved by cutting the number of 10-storey ‘hills’ from three to two with the design otherwise remaining largely unchanged as a linear block straddling the northern of the flooded quarry at Hill of Rubislaw.
A formal planning application from the IBI Group will be submitted following a consultation period.
There are competing plans to build a heritage centre on the southern edge of the site.
