Kelvindale railway land earmarked for housing
November 11 2019
Convery Prenty Architects have filed plans for a further 49 homes comprising a mix of apartments and townhouses for former railway sidings in Kelvindale, Glasgow.
Located on an awkward island site the project takes the form of a series of tiered elements rising between three and six storeys to create a varied roofscape.
Espousing their design concept, the architects wrote: “The architectural approach references the dominant vernacular of 19th and 20th century buildings and the strong/defined formality they convey.
“The building form is regular and linear with elevations generally dominated by strong horizontal eaves or parapet lines, with considered proportions and varied building mass and materials.”
Landscape proposals will create a mix of private and open garden areas centred on a central SUDS pond.
A 2017 proposal for a further 49 homes on land to the immediate west has already been approved.
