Scotland’s biggest health centre earmarked for Parkhead
October 29 2019
BAM Construction and Hoskins Architects are to build Scotland’s largest health centre at Parkhead, Glasgow, following their appointment by Hub West Scotland.
North east Health Centre will rise on Salamanca Street, drawing together 900 healthcare professionals working for NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and Glasgow Health & Social Care Partnership who are currently dispersed across nine separate sites.
The £35m design and build contract will deliver 10,000sq/m of clinical, support and training spaces, dwarfing previously delivered centres in the Gorbals, Woodside and elsewhere in the city to enable better integration of services.
Bruce Dickson, regional director at BAM Construction, said, “This is a model example of the future provision of health services moving away from a hospital setting to a community based location which is readily accessible with good transport links.”
The phased build is expected to commence in summer 2020 for completion by early 2025.

http://www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=9078&p=0 initial estimate for Eastwood, pre site selection, was £18-24m.
- https://www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/ehcc says it cost £15m. Hub website has £14.3m, excluding furniture I guess.
The other 3 centres are similar size so don’t know where your £34m for all 4 comes from... that’d need a cost/sq.m around that of volume housing. I bet if they set such ludicrously low budgets you’d be on here complaining about incompetent public procurement.
