Scotsbridge Holdings have confirmed their determination to press ahead with a £60m retirement village in Newton Mearns early next year following the award of full planning consent.
The Hills at Whitecraigs will has been conceived by Jewitt & Wilkie Architects as a ‘village’ style countryside complex catering for the over 55s with a mix of 214 flats, 38 cottages and an 80-bed care home.
Spread over 17 acres of land and including a clubhouse, bar, café and community facilities the village will include a host of upmarket facilities including a spa, fitness suite and function rooms.
Scotsbridge director Shazad Bakhsh said: “As people live longer there is a growing demand for high-quality accommodation that will meet their changing needs, but also help them to enjoy a full, active and varied lifestyle.
“We’re proposing to break ground on the development in the first quarter of 2020 and are targeting the first phase of the residential units to be completed by the third quarter of 2021.”
Health & wellbeing will be at the heart of the scheme through the provision of woodland, water features and a bowling green.
Scotsbridge is also backing a £140m office development in Glasgow’s Argyle Street and plan to convert the A-listed Met Tower overlooking George Square into office space.
