The Trump Organisation win consent for 550 Menie homes
September 26 2019
The Trump Organisation has obtained planning permission to build 550 homes at the Menie Estate in Aberdeenshire in addition to a range of shops, a ‘town hall’ and a second 18 hole golf course alongside the existing range.
Covell Matthews Architects have drawn up templates for a variety of traditionally styled houses from cottages through to £1m plus mansions complete with orangeries.
Outlining the planned development The Trump organisation wrote: “Every aspect of The Trump Estate has been developed with an understanding of the great natural heritage and architectural vernacular of the region, giving The Trump Estate a distinct identity. The housing has been laid out in a traditional way, bringing the dwellings closer to the street front and placing an emphasis on walkable neighbourhoods”
There will be no on-site affordable housing however after Aberdeenshire Council agreed to a commuted payment to provide accommodation elsewhere. Some three hectares of trees would also be lost to construction, replaced by more than five hectares of compensatory planting.
The residential vision follows the abandonment of plans to build a five-star hotel as the centrepiece of a £1bn golf resort.

Seems that Trump derangement syndrome has effected the comment section of urban realm, as any other developer proposing this would be lavished with praise. Sad.
