Revised Woodlands homes set to move on-site
September 23 2019
Savills have begun marketing a 65-home city centre development in Glasgow to supplant a disused art deco garage at St Georges Road, within the Woodlands Conservation Area.
City Garden has been designed by Page\Park as a contemporary ‘mansion’ apartment block complete with a raised garden deck with a 120m running track and two ground-floor commercial units to complete a city block overlooking the M8 cutting.
Outlining their revised approach in an updated planning statement the architects wrote: “To reflect the mass of the adjacent stone tenements the elevation exploits the depth of the site to create a richness in the brick skin, creating a 1.5m zone defined by an outer ‘frame’ Within this zone are a series of pilasters alternating between recessed and projecting piers which rise to support the shallow top-level balcony in a reference to the balconies at St George’s Mansions.”
Standing behind an outer brick frame the updated project will adopt a stepped façade by exploiting the depth of the site.

What is with the horrible set back in the middle of the block?
What is with the nasty ridge-line of glass-cum-brick columns? Gross.
The brick itself is a 90's throwback, and not the good sort.
The metal cladding infill panels look absolutely atrocious. A bit of restraint guys, c'mon.
Umpteen junctions all over the place.
What a dog's dinner.
Please build this.
