Views sought on £15m replacement Renton Campus
September 2 2019
West Dunbartonshire Council is soliciting views on its plans to erect a £15m education campus in Renton, within the grounds of the current school.
Renton Campus will include a new primary school, language and communications unit and early learning centre, spanning three floors to maximise the amount of available outdoor space, while improving the setting of the A-listed Smollett Monument and B-listed War Memorial.
Councillor Ian Dickson commented: “This is an exciting opportunity to transform the education of our current pupils by moving them from an ageing building that is in a poor condition to a brand new purpose-built learning environment.”
Councillor Karen Conaghan, added: “The plans will increase the number of places for children with additional support needs.
Officers have also considered the size of the building to ensure we build a campus that will meet the future needs of the area.”
Upon completion, the current school will be demolished with a multi-use sports pitch and playground taking its place.
A formal planning application is expected over the coming weeks.
