Record office take-up drives speculative Glasgow build
August 28 2019
A delayed speculative office block in Glasgow city centre is set to finally rise above ground with the appointment of Bowmer & Kirkland to deliver the 10-storey build in a contract worth £23m.
Designed by Cooper Cromar Cadworks is slated to complete by summer 2021 when it will offer 96,000sq/ft of space within a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and EPC ‘A’ rated envelope.
A further claim to fame lies with the development being held as the first in Scotland to boast a ‘cycle-in’ ramp enabling future occupants to cycle directly into their offices.
Fore managing partner, Basil Demeroutis, commented: “Cadworks will embody our vision of creating a new way of designing commercial space, one where social responsibility and ethics can be powerful drivers of returns on investment.”
Office take-up in Glasgow is currently running at an all time record according to analysis by Savills, with 1.4msq/ft of space being let over 2018, driven by major expansion by HMRC, Clydesdale Bank and Barclays.
