New Golden Jubilee Eye Centre comes into focus

Health secretary Jeane Freeman has looked ahead to the completion of the Golden Jubilee Eye Hospital on a site visit to mark a year to go until the facility opens to patients in the summer of 2020.

Kier Regional Building is currently on-site delivering the IBI Group designed facility which will boast six dedicated operating theatres capable of carrying out 21,000 cataract procedures each year.

Health Secretary Jeane Freeman said: “The Golden Jubilee Eye Centre forms part of one of the elective and diagnostic centres that are being established across Scotland. The network will allow people to be treated more quickly for planned surgery, taking the pressure off the other parts of the system that deal with unplanned and emergency treatment.”

A second phase of expansion creating seven additional theatres, surgical rooms and a sterilisation department is scheduled for completion at the end of 2021.

Has a disgruntled Architect, who prepared the original planning drawings, submitted their list of ill-thought out VE changes to the Press yet?
