Permission sought for Paisley office to hotel conversion
August 20 2019
BSD Associates acting on behalf of EK Trend have indicated their intent to convert a disused Paisley office block into hotel accommodation under new plans filed with Renfrewshire Council.
The change of use for St James House would see the current structure retained, into which a range of bedrooms and an associated bar and restaurant would be inserted.
Proposed works extend to dropping the cill height of four ground floor windows to better animate a proposed bar and restaurant space with an architectural LED lighting scheme further animating the current façade.
In a statement, the applicants observed: “Externally from the car park, on the rear elevation we propose a new single-storey glazed extension with a sleek low profile zinc roof with blue/black engineering brick wall and base course. Blonde stone cill colour to match the existing blockwork. Feature wall lights to make a visual impact from the car park. The new extension will accommodate breakfast service and restaurant diners as well as a staff cellar with external access.”
Solar panels may also be installed on the roof to burnish the projects green credentials.
