Aberdeen courts patient satisfaction with new health hub
August 14 2019
NHS Grampian has progressed plans to modernise the delivery of primary and community care services in Aberdeen with the submission of plans by jmarchitects for The Denburn Health & Care Centre.
The integrated care hub has been specified to provide access to a broader range of services from a single hub located close to the newly completed Orchard Brae Complex Needs School.
Facing a landscaped community courtyard interior spaces will feature ambient lighting and non-institutional furniture aimed at promoting wellbeing with a floorplan which ‘explains itself through a clear patient pathway.
In their design statement, the architects wrote: “The entrance sequence for patients and visitors starts with an external courtyard area leading to the entrance lobby and reception area. This route is very clear and simple.
“There are expansive views out of the waiting area into the community courtyard. Patient access into the courtyard should be an important consideration. The waiting spaces are light and lofty, with great sightlines into many other areas of the building, this will help make wayfinding clear and simple.”
In a first for the region, the health hub will include its own ‘doctors first’ triage space consisting of 10 workstations and locker storage.

Presume this is via Hub - at least it is good for something.
