Passivhaus-standard affordable homes kick-start Dundashill transformation
July 30 2019
West of Scotland Housing Association has submitted plans for 89 affordable homes at the site of a former distillery at Dundashill, Glasgow, as part of a wider masterplan prepared by Igloo Regeneration and Scottish Canals.
The Passivhaus standard homes will be offered at mid-market and social rents and mark the first major component of the masterplan.
Rupert Daly of Collective Architecture commented: “The client’s brief to meet the Passivhaus Standard not only ensures the highest standards in energy efficiency and comfort for tenants but has also been a defining factor, offering the design team and client the opportunity to challenge convention in all aspects of the design.
“Working with erz, the landscape design provides a range of different high-quality external spaces for residents and integrates sustainable design features such as rain gardens into the scheme. The site will become an extension to the city’s green network connecting into and enhancing the wider Dundashill masterplan access strategy.”
The evolving canal quarter was recently subject to an application for start-up business units brought by Oliver Chapman Architects.
