Robertson Construction has completed work at a £32.5m secondary school in Perth, paving the way to welcome pupils and staff next month.

Bertha Park High School has been delivered by Hub East central Scotland on behalf of Perth & Kinross Council and is being billed as the first new secondary school to be built in Scotland for 25 years (as opposed to replacing an existing school).

In another claim to fame, Bertha Park is the only UK school to partner with Microsoft who have advised on the best means of integrating new technologies to deliver the curriculum.

At full capacity, the school will accommodate 1,100 pupils and includes a wealth of associated facilities including a sports hall, gym and multi-use games court.

Kevin Dickson, managing director, Robertson Tayside, said: “Bertha Park is set to be one of the most advanced schools not only in Scotland but across the UK and beyond. Partnership working has been crucial to delivering this state-of-the-art facility and Robertson has been privileged to serve as the main contractor.

“The built environment can have an enormous impact on the education experience and while our work is now complete, we are genuinely excited to see how the story of the school unfolds.”

Designed by Norr the school evolves a design laid down at West Calder High School by arranging teaching spaces around a column-free central meeting space.
