Final countdown for Aberdeen events complex
July 11 2019
Aberdeen City Council and Henry Boot Developments have begun a final countdown toward the opening of a major new events hub on 10 August with a formal handover by Robertson Construction.
The TECA Complex, including two on-site hotels, has been designed by Keppie with a 12,500-capacity main arena called P&J Live at its heart, supported by three exhibition halls, conference rooms and meeting areas.
Robertson CEO Derek Shewan said: “The TECA complex has been three years in the making and this is a proud time for all involved.
“From the east end of the site being located immediately below a flight path, to the diversion of an existing watercourse, and the re-routing of major utilities, there has been no challenge that we haven’t overcome together.”
The new venue was commissioned to position the city as a significant tourism destination and diversify the economy away from oil and gas.
