Developers behind a 198-bed student housing development at London Road, Edinburgh, have been given the all clear by City of Edinburgh Council to press ahead.

Summix Capital commissioned 3DReid to create a mix of clustered studio rooms together with a mix of communal spaces, community rooms and ground floor office space for the charity People Know How.

A Summix spokesperson said: “We are delighted to have received approval of our application at committee today. This high-quality student accommodation proposal will serve to redevelop a location in previous commercial and industrial use.

“Positive interaction with the community during the design and planning process informed the scheme's final form and successful engagement with Council officers has enabled the project to evolve into a successful and sustainable scheme.”

Located across the road from Meadowbank Stadium the £15m scheme is expected to get underway shortly.

I'd love to hear the rationale behind the facade design, if there is one that is.
