Ineos bring forward Grangemouth ‘twin sister’ HQ
June 17 2019
Michael Laird Architects have returned to Grangemouth on behalf of Ineos with an application to build a second office building adjacent to a recently completed headquarters for the chemical’s giant.
HQ2 will provide office space for an additional 400 staff who will relocate from Falkirk to work alongside colleagues who have already made the move to the campus, with a full-height glazed link providing seamless access between the two.
In a concept statement, the architects wrote: “It is important that staff find movement between them easy and efficient. A new glazed link will join the buildings providing a protected route.
“Meeting & conference facilities will be located adjacent to each other in order to allow for large gatherings within both buildings. Each building will have its own dedicated cafe space to serve staff, however movement between these two locations will be simple, to allow for ‘coffee meetings’ in either location.”
Located on remediated land at Inchyra Road the new addition will stand at a right angle to the current base, opposite an enlarged utility building, to form a landscaped courtyard and expanded car parking. Finished in grey rainscreen panelling and curtain walling the new building will be finished to appear as a ‘twin sister’ to the existing office.
