An Aberdeenshire bothy conversion has been named the winner of the 2018 Velux Roof Window Award following a nationwide contest.

Nether Cowieswells, Crawton, by Hyve Architects saw existing interiors better illuminated and ventilated through the installation of new roof lights within the gable of the original structure.

Former RIBA president Jane Duncan described the conversion as the, “Most simple and elegant of remodelling projects which subtly introduces the wonderful local light through Velux roof windows to enhance the clarity of the spaces.”

Special mentions were given to three further projects from the 130 submissions; Spring Cottage by Covell Matthews Architects; The Steading, also by Hyve and 48 Milverton Road by T2 Architects.

Is this a joke? getting a cash prize and a roof light to specify a particular product (on current or future projects). UR I think you should run a check before publishing stuff like this, its embarrassing.

April 1 is a few weeks off yet. The focus is really the bothy conversion rather than the specific product.

It’s a national competition which had over 100 entries. A showcase of quality architecture and building.

This item as a design relevant article within a public journal is indeed simply embarassing. Urban Realm .. can you guys waken up and look at the miserable architecture which you are highlighting. If adequate material is not available be honest and issue blank pages......less offensive.
