East Lothian Council have taken possession of the £18.9m Wallyford Primary following completion of the Hub South East build.
Overseen by Morrison Construction and jmarchitects the school will open its doors to pupils and staff on 20 February, replacing an existing facility at Salters Road with 28 classrooms and room for up to 120 nursery-age children.
Councillor Shamin Akhtar said: "This is a really important occasion for Wallyford Primary School and the wider community.
"It's been fascinating to watch the project develop from its initial stages through to successful handover. I'm especially pleased at the involvement that school staff and children have had throughout the construction process and the care that has been taken to take on board their views.
"The finished school provides an inspiring learning environment for staff and children that will continue to grow with the area."
The 814-pupil school was commissioned to accommodate an influx of new families to the commuter town, drawn by new homes in the St Clements Wells area.
